President-Elect Obama & FDR
President-Elect Obama should model his relief/assistance programs after FDR because FDR was "a good man" and served as a successful president. Like Roosevelt, Obama is an optimistic man whose main concern is to improve our nation for the better. In order for Obama to help get us out of this recession, he could mimic many of FDR's past plans, such as creating public work programs (since many people are now out of jobs due to the economy and recent law past about no longer having dog races). What Obama needs is to create a structured plan on how he plans on attacking these matters. He needs to know his goal, and work for it, unlike Roosevelt who often just went with the flow and did not have a structured plan on how to end the depression. I believe if Obama models FDR's relief/ assistance programs then it would help us get out of a recession, because after all history repeats itself, so let's learn from our past and change it now!!!

Depression in 2009!!
I was extremely surprised by reading this article; I had no idea that our economy was in such jeopardy. One man stated that “There’s no way to make informed decisions about the present without understanding, in some detail, the worst-case scenario about the future”. Alluding to how it is hard for us as a society to make any rash decisions because we are unaware how extreme a depression would be in the 21 century. For instance, we spend most of our money on education, childcare, and healthcare, unlike in the 1930’s when food and clothing was what most individuals splurged on. More injuries would occur and no one would be able to get any help for them. The rate of death would be due to lack of hospitalization rather than from disease and lack of food. It is strange to think about a depression in 2009 because it would be so different than in 1930’s. Individuals who once shopped at Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister would now be forced to shop at Target and Wal*Mart (not that there is anything wrong with those stores). Prices of homes would decrease greatly and many people would have to move further away where it’s less expensive, or start moving in with other families. There is a good chance that crime would increase, as it would no matte the decade a depression occurred. Although many things would be different in a depression in 2009, some things would remain the same, like disease would probably occur due to many people living in close courters, and increase in crime and deaths. Although, I feel as though we would be better off than those who lived during the Great Depression because we are better equipped in technology and we have also learned form the past’s mistakes.

No Way! Fight for your Right!
No, Americans should not be willing to give up our civil liberties in a time of war, not even for the good of the nation. We as Americans have fought too hard to earn this freedom and it should not be stripped away from us due to war. There is a line that the government should not be able to cross. and that starts with our rights. If the government was to take our rights, we would have no say on what happened in the war, and that is just not right. Our own sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, moms, and dads, aunts, and uncles, all fight in the wars. They are the ones being at harms way day in and day out; their families should have a say along with everybody else. It is every body's nation, not just the soldiers who fight in the war. Just because Americans shouldn't give up their rights doesn't make them any less patriotic, yet a more involved patriot.

A Kind Gesture Results in a Final Destination

Rumor has it that we may be in for our first world war. As tensions in Bosnia strengthen, the assassination of the Archduke Francis Ferdinand just makes matter worse. The Archduke earlier cheated a near death experience when a bomb exploded, bounced off a car, and skimmed him, but sadly killed two of his security guards. The Archduke, being a kind and concerned man, went to visit his injured security guards, feeling some guilt because he knew that they wouldn't have been hurt if someone wasn't after him.
However, the Archduke and his wife, Sofia, were both shot on the return trip from the hospital. Sofia was shot first, and shortly after the Archduke Francis Ferdinand was killed as well, uttering his last words 'Sofia!' It is said to believe that the sniper was Gavriol Princip, a 19 year old member of the Black Hand (Serbian terrorist). Although many details on this evil, twisted man are still unclear, one thing is sure: the Archduke made his final destination.

Famous Quote
"Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing. "
-Theodore Roosevelt
~ Roosevelt is portraying that we all have one life to live, and we should embrace the chances we get in life and live them to the fullest. Life's gift to us, is to work, and Roosevelt states we should work hard at something worth while, rather than wasting our lives working towards something that is meaningless.
~ I appreciate this quote because I strongly agree with Roosevelt. Life is a gift, and we should cherish it, and get the most out of it we can. Theodore Roosevelt was a very inspirational man, and this quote illustrates one of his main beliefs, which I support all the way.

SPANISH ATTACK U.S. BATTLESHIP
People of the United States! Today, The U.S. Battleship "Maine" has been attacked by the Spanish. It is understood that the ship that once was sent to Cuba to protect American lives and property, has been bombed by these heartless people. Over 250 men that were on board the ship died instantly from the explosion. Although they sent investigators to determine how the "Maine" was bombed, it is clear to every American that the enemy here is the Spanish. They are ruthless, untrustworthy, lieing, people of whom we wish never to be associated with. We need to stand strong, and "remember the Maine", and fight for its right.
